JOSKIN manufactures the world’s largest range of trailers for transport and the spreading of agricultural products. Its machines criss-cross the countryside all over Europe and in 60 countries of the world. Created in 1968 by Victor Joskin, the company has developed to become an international group keeping its independence and family management.
Victor started at a young age, initially as an agricultural contractor serving farmers in his home district but soon discovered that the machines he was using were not meeting the conditions or the high work hours of a contractor. Victor then started to manufacture and design his own machines to meet his requirements by applying his contracting experience and engineering knowledge. He knew how to build them right.
Victor then received requests from other contractors and farmers to build machines and over a short period of time, JOSKIN became recognised as a manufacturer for high-quality agricultural trailers, slurry tankers, and muck spreaders. JOSKIN now has four factories with over 850 employees spread over Belgium, Poland, and France.
JOSKIN’s design philosophy is to build to a high-quality standard resulting in longer life with a price to value proposition.
New Zealand’s exclusive importer for JOSKIN equipment is ORIGINAG who has over 30 sales and service dealers throughout NZ. This provides users with local parts, warranty, and service support.
ORIGINAG is this year introducing the JOSKIN TRANS-CAP 5500/15BC125 general-purpose agricultural trailer with a 15.5m3 volume capacity with a rated payload of 14t. This trailer will also be available with optional silage extensions to increase the capacity to 28.7m3. The trailer has only a 5.5m long body, which makes it well suited to field harvesting operations, as it is extremely maneuverable for easy access in and out of the field.
The TRANS-CAP is a perfect all–purpose trailer as it can be used with the silage extensions removed to perform other tasks such as light metal, sand, soil, bulk material haulage, or any other jobs you may have. The trailer is also well suited to grain and vegetable growers as a field harvest trailer to work in the field for bulk loading from the harvester. A special internal landing suspension sheet is also available for potatoes to reduce crop damage.
All JOSKIN trailers are manufactured from a high quality high tensile steel (HLE). This steel has a low carbon content which, when compared to normal steel, provides excellent properties for folding, welding, and cold forming during the manufacturing processes.
This steel has many advantages. On one hand, its high tensile limit ensures less fatigue and lower weight and on the other hand, it has a high resistance to shocks resulting in higher durability, strength, and longer life.
JOSKIN trailers volume capacity can be increased by adding optional aluminum extensions to the sides. TRANS-CAP trailers are available from 10.2m3 to 33.6m3 volume with payloads from 10t up to 18t. A bigger brother to the TRANS-CAP range is the TRANS-SPACE with 17.1m3 up to 42.2m3 capacity with payloads from 18t up to 26t, with either tandem or triple axle options.
JOSKIN uses a monocoque body in its trailer. This design principle is when the body of the trailer is constructed from sheet steel that is folded and pressed into a bathtub shape. This provides greater strength compared to a fabricated welded constructed body. The rolled edges of the monocoque body also stops material from sticking in the corners when un-loading.
Trans-SPACE and Trans-CAP trailers also feature a tapered body, this is achieved by making the back of the body wider than at the front by 8cm, which ensures quicker and easier unloading. The front walls are fitted with four Perspex sight windows protected by galvanized rods this provides a clear view of the inside of the trailer contents by the tractor operator.
The rear door of the trailer is fitted with two safety devices; a pressure relief valve in order to prevent damage if the door cannot be closed due to an obstruction, and a pilot valve on each door ram to hold the door in position if a hydraulic hose breaks or the tractor hydraulics stops. Synthetic rubber seals are also fitted around the door to keep a perfect tightness even with small grains.
JOSKIN offers various types of tandem and triple bogie axle combinations to suit any situation so ORIGINAG has selected a heavy-duty rocker beam-type axle for the TRANSCAP Trailer. This axle design provides many advantages for silage harvesting applications as it lowers the overall height of the trailer resulting in a lower center of gravity and increased stability. This type of axle is generally more stable when compared to sprung leaf type axles that have more movement which can cause stability problems in soft field conditions.
The rocker beam axle consists of two large casings made up of profile tubes (300 x 300 x 12.5 mm) each supporting two half-axles. They are hinged on a central axis (mounted on bushes with grease nipples) and a monoblock table bolted to the chassis providing strength – stability and longer life.
Cross-suspension leaf springs fitted on the drawbar provide a soft ride and provides good clearance at the towing eyelet without distorting the draw-line of the vehicle.
JOSKIN’s tipping ram has been positioned in a way to ensure safe operation and to reduce stresses to the body by mounting the ram on the front part of the chassis. A safety valve is fitted directly on the ram preventing the body from unexpectedly falling down if a hydraulic line leaks oil or breaks. A unique double oscillating frame mounted at the base of the tipping ram compensates for any sideway torsions caused by uneven loads inside the body of the trailer when tipping the load, overall providing safe and reliable operation.
